Laurence Duvall said: “Human beings are the expressions of their landscape.” All of us could start making different choices to heal ourselves, as well as the earth.
I participated in a ceremony on October 27th with over sixty Mexican people at Teotihuacán, honoring the earth, sun, moon, planets and all of the cosmos. This is one of the most impressive sacred sites in Mexico and it is 40 kilometers from Mexico City. The first part of the ceremony took place in caves located below the pyramid of the Sun. Shamans call these caves entrances to the underworld. As we all gathered in the darkness of the caves, many were costumed in ancient Aztec and Mayan garb as they drummed, rattled and chanted. It was a moving sight to witness the Mexicans reclaiming their ancient ways. We emerged from the dark cave to the middle world of light where we stepped into a medicine wheel to connect to the upper world. I felt blessed as an American woman to conduct this healing ceremony.
After an experience like this, you begin to view the world differently and truly see yourself as part of creation. As our bodies have an anatomy and physiology, the planet does also. Our bodies can become sick and the earth does the same. As a contemporary pilgrim, I have visited many mystical sites and these places act as an activator to wake us up on all levels of consciousness. All these sites are connected to each other like points on a grid system. Simple, small steps will make a major contribution for the good of all. Stop littering. Recycle. Connect to nature. Honor all creatures. Honor your body. Respect all people no matter what your differences.
It’s a time to heal, a time to love & a time to remember who we really are!
