Love is a many splendored thing
Valentine’s Day scents are in the air with roses, candy, cards, candles and love songs… then why in the world is Adele the British pop singer, the #1 entertainer in the world with her songs about heart break? Millions of people relate to her sad songs. Is humanity addicted to pain? As I‘m writing this blog, Rhianna’s recent hit: “I Found Love”…is playing on the radio. Is love hopeless? Real love can never be hope-less. Love is hope -ful. People you love, can leave you, stop communicating and disappear from your life but the love that you FELT will always burn brightly inside of you. No one can take love away from you. Love is YOU…..the real you!
If you’re sad that a lover left you, feel the sadness but then remind yourself about how lucky you were to experience loving another. Some relationships have a short expiration date and like a shooting star, they are brief but beautiful. Love is like a beautiful bird that should never be caged, but set free fearlessly.
Real love is a boomerang…the more you love, the more it comes back to you. So toss your boomerang now. There are many people to love in this world. Tell someone today that you love them. It can be man, woman, child, animal or thing.
“Yes, love is a many splendored thing.” 1955 American Film Classic
Happy Valentine’s Day!

Truth
One of my favorite childhood stories was Pinocchio, the toy made by loving hands of Geppetto who created the puppet. Pinocchio like the prodigal son goes through a series of experiences that hurt and disappoint his Father. One of the scenes in the Disney movie that stands out is when Pinocchio lies and his nose grows with each lie. His lies are so extensive that it grows as long as a tree branch. It is only when Pinocchio starts to speak the truth, that the natural size of his nose is restored.
How many of us are like this character? It is time NOW to be truthful with ourselves. If we want our lives to be harmonious, we must seek within our self to discover the truth.
1. What is my life story?
2. Do I want to continue to live my life this way?
3. How do I believe my own lies and mistruths?
4. How can I heal my misperceptions?
5. Am I still blaming others for my own unhappiness?
6. What is the mirror reflecting back at me that I don’t want to see?
When we take time to self reflect, we can shift old patterns that we have become addicted to. We must accept the responsibility for creating our own reality . The moment we live in the now in total truth, we shift our consciousness to new heights……the truth shall set you free!

Hurricanes in life are good
This Blog was written last year at this time…..thought it was appropriate to re-post this Blog. I’m confident that everyone has weathered the storm!
_________________________________________________________

Back blogging…..just recently returned from an annual family vacation in Bermuda. I have been in Bermuda the last week in August for over twenty-five years. It’s hurricane season and in all my years there, it never happened during our vacation. On our arrival, the island was buzzing that hurricane Danielle was heading straight towards Bermuda. I watched many friends & acquaintances in Bermuda track it on line and I asked them all why? I also received numerous emails from concerned friends hoping that my family and I were safe. I really appreciated the concern, but it got me thinking how a part of us are feeding into fear and negativity. Why not focus on what we want? I enjoyed my vacation …sunning, swimming, eating and sipping my Dark ‘n’ Stormy’s – a famous island drink. The night before the predicated doomsday Danielle, the waves crashed on the beach with an extra powerful rage.
The storm never arrived and as we headed towards the airport my husband asked the cab driver about the stalled storm. The cabbie, in his laid back Bermuda mode, smiled and proceeded to tell all of us how wonderful hurricanes are. The powerful winds of a hurricane take the sands and bring it out into the depths of the ocean and wash, spin, detoxify the sand. After the storm is over the beaches and everything is pristine again. Nature knows how to heal and restore naturally. Hurricanes are good.
In our personal lives there are times that hurricanes are all around us, whether in our relationships, health, finances or other areas of our life. Storms can be our greatest healers and teachers. The winds of a storm enable us to explore aspects of ourselves that we ignore on sunny days. If we stop holding on so tight and let go who knows where we might land; but just in case…… I’m putting on my ruby slippers!

Expectations…are they good or bad?
It’s healthy to have dreams, goals and desires in life. The real trick is to accept the outcome realizing that there is good in everything. It’s truly a balancing act!
How many of us live life without any expectations? I know that I don’t. As a human being I have a perspective of how things SHOULD be or how people SHOULD behave. So with all these great expectations what usually follows is disappointment. Then our story within ourselves starts to take a life of its own and our disappointment starts to fester like a sore filling up with pus of anger, hurt and resentment. “You did this to me after I been so good to you.” Then you become a victim and start defending yourself against the world. The inner turmoil and conflict grows. Sound familiar?
If you really want to develop and grow spiritually this lesson could be number one on your bucket list. A daily practice of letting go of any expectations of how your day or life needs to be or look like could be tremendously freeing and transformative. Stop making your life WRONG. Be patient with yourself as you cultivate this new way of thinking and feeling. It’s like a new muscle that needs time, practice and patience to become really strong. But like a strong, fit physique brings good health, working on your inner mind will bring peace, tranquility and harmony.
Set yourself free! Oops…is that another expectation?

Walking on Sunshine
Rainy week here in New England and you can see on people’s faces that the lack of sunshine is bringing them down. I use to feel the same way, until I realized that I always have a choice to feel differently. Why would I allow the weather to affect my inner sunshine? This past week I put on my bright yellow rubber boots humming my favorite song by Katrina and the Waves…”Walking on Sunshine.” Wow, I immediately felt brighter. All of a sudden, additional positive thoughts rushed over me:
- How lucky we all are in New England just to have some rainy days versus what some people had to experience in Japan.
- Ah……rain is good. It moisturizes my skin.
- I don’t have to water my flowers.
- I can write more because I won’t be distracted by the siren call of sunshine.
Life is like a large menu with lots of options, but the choice you make on how to react is yours. If you choice to be gloomy acknowledge that it’s your choice. The moment we all become self responsible, we can then realize that no person, place or thing can make us feel any which way. It is our mind judging and categorizing. Remember the old expression that the only difference between a flower and a weed is a judgment. I love dandelions…they are bright and sunny! What is your choice?
