Hurricanes in life are good

Hurricanes in life are good

This Blog was written last year at this time…..thought it was appropriate to re-post this Blog. I’m confident that everyone has weathered the storm!

before-after

Back blogging…..just recently returned from an annual family vacation in Bermuda. I have been in Bermuda the last week in August for over twenty-five years. It’s hurricane season and in all my years there, it never happened during our vacation. On our arrival, the island was buzzing that hurricane Danielle was heading straight towards Bermuda. I watched many friends & acquaintances in Bermuda track it on line and I asked them all why? I also received numerous emails from concerned friends hoping that my family and I were safe. I really appreciated the concern, but it got me thinking how a part of us are feeding into fear and negativity. Why not focus on what we want? I enjoyed my vacation …sunning, swimming, eating and sipping my Dark ‘n’ Stormy’s – a famous island drink. The night before the predicated doomsday Danielle, the waves crashed on the beach with an extra powerful rage.

The storm never arrived and as we headed towards the airport my husband asked the cab driver about the stalled storm. The cabbie, in his laid back Bermuda mode, smiled and proceeded to tell all of us how wonderful hurricanes are. The powerful winds of a hurricane take the sands and bring it out into the depths of the ocean and wash, spin, detoxify the sand. After the storm is over the beaches and everything is pristine again. Nature knows how to heal and restore naturally. Hurricanes are good.

In our personal lives there are times that hurricanes are all around us, whether in our relationships, health, finances or other areas of our life. Storms can be our greatest healers and teachers. The winds of a storm enable us to explore aspects of ourselves that we ignore on sunny days. If we stop holding on so tight and let go who knows where we might land; but just in case…… I’m putting on my ruby slippers!

Face your fears head on….

Face your fears head on….

As we walk through our life journey, most of us are filled with anxiety and stress; ourthoughts are loaded with fear.We mask our pain by pretending to be positive when underneath the facade is intense emotional pain. Inside of most of us is a small child who developed misperceptions and distortions about life based on fear.

You must face your fears head on and with an open heart, if you want to be truly empowered. It is an easier process if you face fears consciously, rather than have your unconscious mind create a difficult situation for you to experience suppressed emotions. Here are some suggestions.

  1. Take total responsibility for your healing transformation.
  2. Sit in a meditative state and then bring in something you fear the most. Create a negative fantasy of this fear and then resolve it.
  3. Be an observer of yourself….when you find yourself experiencing emotional pain, find the truth inside of you that you have been resisting. Dig it out to the open.
  4. Take a look at your own dark side honestly without judgment. We are all both darkness and light and pretending that darkness is outside of you will only bring in unwanted problems because of these suppressed feelings.
  5. Teach yourself how to live life without fear.

Release your fears today!Confront them and you will start to experience a freedom, peace and joy that you never thought was possible. Make your healing process the number one priority in your life. As you heal, this passes on to family and friends and ultimately the whole planet.

Healthy is wealthy!

Do you know that over forty million Americans are on anti-depressants and another 80 million are unable to sleep at night? America the beautiful has become a place of sad and depressed people, who feel that the only solution is a pill. Medication certainly does have its place, but when something doesn’t go our way in our daily life we resort, far too often, to a pill, food or alcohol to numb the negative feelings.

Einstein stated that  “we can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.” If something is troubling us whether it’s a health, mental or emotional issue, we have to be willing to make a change within ourselves. If you don’t make an inner change it will never materialize in your daily reality. If we want radiant health, we must choose to make that a priority and change the attitude that taking a pill, eating or drinking to excess or going to the doctor is the answer.

Here are some steps to begin the process of achieving optimum health:

  1. Improve your diet, nutrition and learn how to detoxify the body.
  2. Learn to forgive others and be more tolerant when they don’t live up to your expectations.
  3. Overcome lingering health issues by breaking the habitual pattern. Feelings such as blame, bitterness, hate, anger, fear, self-pity, resentment and depression decrease the vital life force flowing through our bodies. All illnesses are based on unresolved emotional issues.
  4. Cleanse yourself of all negative emotions and detrimental patterns. Love and embrace those aspects of yourself….that is how we let them go by ‘Loving them away.’
  5. Stop waiting for everything in your life to be perfect – happiness will always elude you. Life is never perfect, but perfect for our soul growth if we pay attention with awareness and take the time to search within ourselves to make a positive shift.
  6. Be responsible for all things that happen to you (that’s a tough one to accept, but true)…..remember, there is something positive in everything that happens to us!
  7. Be happy…it’s all how we deal with things and not the event or circumstance that has happiness or unhappiness attached to it.

As the Nike logo states……….JUST DO IT!

It’s time to heal!

It’s time to heal!

Laurence Duvall said: “Human beings are the expressions of their landscape.” All of us could start making different choices to heal ourselves, as well as the earth.

I participated in a ceremony on October 27th with over sixty Mexican people at Teotihuacán, honoring the earth, sun, moon, planets and all of the cosmos. This is one of the most impressive sacred sites in Mexico and it is 40 kilometers from Mexico City. The first part of the ceremony took place in caves located below the pyramid of the Sun. Shamans call these caves entrances to the underworld. As we all gathered in the darkness of the caves, many were costumed in ancient Aztec and Mayan garb as they drummed, rattled and chanted. It was a moving sight to witness the Mexicans reclaiming their ancient ways. We emerged from the dark cave to the middle world of light where we stepped into a medicine wheel to connect to the upper world. I felt blessed as an American woman to conduct this healing ceremony.

After an experience like this, you begin to view the world differently and truly see yourself as part of creation. As our bodies have an anatomy and physiology, the planet does also. Our bodies can become sick and the earth does the same. As a contemporary pilgrim, I have visited many mystical sites and these places act as an activator to wake us up on all levels of consciousness. All these sites are connected to each other like points on a grid system. Simple, small steps will make a major contribution for the good of all. Stop littering. Recycle. Connect to nature. Honor all creatures. Honor your body. Respect all people no matter what your differences.

It’s a time to heal, a time to love & a time to remember who we really are!

Shaman Mother’s “7″ Golden Rules before you get pregnant – #5 Heal your Physical Body!

Golden Rule #5 - Heal your Physical Body!

A  V.I P. is coming to your home for dinner (possibly President Obama or the Dali Lama).  What would you do? You would probably clean your house; dress in your finest clothing and prepare a glorious feast. Your upcoming pregnancy needs to be viewed with the same perspective…. an important guest is arriving soon. Your body is the temple which will be hosting this great guest. What will you do to prepare?

What to do / action steps:

  1. Clean and detoxify your body of any bad habits such as smoking, drugs, and excessive drinking and eating. Sweep away these habits before pregnancy.
  2.  Alkalize your body. You can purchase PH strips that you can test your own urine and saliva at home and see what your PH levels are. Most people have too much acid in their bodies. An alkalized body is a healthy body for you and your child.
  3. Drink lots of fresh, clean water and add a lime to it. This will assist in alkalizing the body.
  4. Develop good nutritional habits. The most important key is to have a “balanced” diet. Lots of fresh fruit and vegetables with protein and carbohydrates. You don’t have to eliminate sugar but keep it in check. Sometimes a woman decides that being pregnant is giving her permission to get fat and over indulge…wrong. This is the time to eat better than ever.
  5. Build a strong fit body. This is important for you as well as the baby. Choose an exercise that you enjoy. I played tennis for six months of my pregnancy.  One day after a tennis match my body said no more. Listen to your body. It will guide you what to do or not do.
  6. Walk in sunshine. Yes, make sure you’re exposed to sunlight. We need the vitamin D for a strong healthy body.  Add supplements and vitamins to support a healthy body.
  7. Love yourself and just do the best that you can.

Loving and nourishing and taking care of your body is a gift to yourself and the baby. This child is a spark of light descending from the world of spirit down to earth. The baby is choosing you. The child is divine and remember…. your body is the sacred vessel.
